with Covid still active and new restrictions in place, we are choosing to do mini "photo reviews" for as many shows as we can this year

restrictions limit us to grabbing a few shots during the first 2 or 3 songs and then we need to be on our way

Catching Andrew Judah's set at Red Bird Brewing was one of those moments when I was profoundly affected by just how much truly amazing talent we have in Kelowna. The question "how did I not know about this guy?" kept reverberating in my head not just during his gig and on the way home, but for days and days afterwards. His performance was simply that impactful.

So non-mainstream, yet so polished and perfected. So advanced harmonically with such intriguing melodies, yet so very approachable and easy to digest. Each song full of surprises, but taken as a complete performance paleing in comparison to the sudden realization of how complete and unique an artist he is.

Judah played through an even dozen songs over the course of the afternoon. While delivering something akin to a musical kalaedescopic experience utilizing a host of devices on the pedal board at his feet, at no point was one distracted from the performance or nor the songs themselves. It was a masterclass in an artist always respecting his art and his artistry over any chosen medium or the tools involved in the expression of the created moments.

This concert experience set in a local craft brewery changed my perception of what such a venue could offer, and what can be accomplished by the right artist in the right mind set and in the act of creating again his art. This was about essense. And it was a wonder to behold.
