Poppa Dawg
Blues Guitarist / Singer
Blues, Soul, Americana
Memphis to Motown
Hailing from the 'Left Coast' of Canada, Poppa Dawg has toured extensively throughout Western and Northern Canada with stints in La Paz, Mexico at The City of Peace Blues Festival and most recently, in 2013 as a participant at the 29th
International Blues Challenge in Memphis. They made it to the semi-finals there and along the way forged some very strong friendships with friends around the world.
Sharing the stage as a side man with such artists as Sonny Rhodes, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne and Harpdog Brown and as an opener for many years for John Mayall, Colin James, Jeff Healey, Powder Blues and so many others has been Poppa Dawg’s
classroom and the education has not been lost on him as he presents the blues with a unique, tongue-in-cheek view and a deep and respectful appreciation of the music. Having garnered critical acclaim with 4 CDs both as himself and with his
former band Dogskin Suit, the music runs all the way from Memphis to Motown. The most recent CD ‘What You Got’ features Canada’s own JW Jones on guitar on the track ‘Dub Step’ with Dawg and Dub doing a call and answer at the end that speaks the blues!
