priest creek family estate winery
This family owned and operated winery, purchased by Darren and Jane Sawen in 2015, is located on the South Kelowna Wine Trail, and its roots can be traced back to the mid 1800s when it was farmed by the mission. None other than Father Pandosy himself is thought
to have planted the first grape vines in the valley for making wine.
Situated on Saucier, it is near to other local vineyards and shares in the majestic views in all directions. Ample parking for a small winery makes it easy to get into and out of.
Priest Creek produces a selection of reds and whites.
Priest Creek was one of several wineries that stepped up to help fill the gap as most indoor venues were restricted from having live music in their establishments. They did it with a very interesting twist. They were approached by a young local musician who asked if they
could do a fundraiser on their lawn to help riase money for charity during the ongoing COVID pandemic. The Sawen family quickly agreed, and what started as one grew into over a dozen local young artists giving their time and raising close to $10,000 for local charities.
We managed to come out and grab a few photos from a couple of those performances.
Artists who have played at Priest Creek include Double Sharp, Jennika Shelton, Keala Morazain, Lucas Wentworth, Moirs Hill, and Shalisa Liesch
