with Covid still active and new restrictions in place, we are choosing to do mini "photo reviews" for as many shows as we can this year

restrictions limit us to grabbing a few shots during the first 2 or 3 songs and then we need to be on our way

Barn Owl Brewing had Kelowna singer/songwriter and pianist and guitarist Jessica Le in to perform on a warm, sunny Okanagan Wednesday evening.

She started her set on her acoustic guitar, singing "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse, "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, "Oops I Did It Again" by Britney Spears and then took an interesting twist into a Sinatra inspired version of "Fly Me To The Moon." Next up were Ingrid Andress' "More Hearts Than Mine" followed by one of her own originals entitled "Balcony" and, as I was packing up to head out, she launched into one of my personal all time favourties, "Your Song" by Elton John.

She has a very good voice, and accompanies herself well on either guitar or piano. For someone who has spent the last few years focusing on her university education, she manages to do the gigging musician thing rather well. I look forward to watching her grow into her artistry as she gets more live gigs under her belt.

Barn Owl plans on bringing her back soon, and she has lined up some other gigs at local venues as well. I'm glad I went, and wish I could have stayed longer. It will be so nice when all the Covid restrictions are gone and we can all get out and really enjoy the live music scene once again.
