The Blue Gator is a Kelowna institution, and the long time home of blues in the Okanagan Valley. Not that they don't bring in other types of bands and artists, but it is the first place you look for blues in town.
Recently, most weeks see them bring in a blues artist on Thursday night, and then another band for Friday and Saturday.
The management has made a point of supporting local musicians and bands by booking them much more frequently than groups from the coast or even farther afield. It has been a deliberate decision that has benefited many local players of all genres, not just the blues.
Like most venues, they are unable to provide live music in the middle of this pandemic, but if past is prologue they will return to being one of the most active places to hear live music in Kelowna when this Covid thing passes.
The Blue Gator is right in the middle of downtown Kelowna and there is usually plenty of on streeet parking right by the venue.
Artists that have played at The Blue Gator include Andrew 'Jr Boy' Jones, Blue Healers, Cathy Ann Wells, Crosstown Bus, Dana Barnes, Deb Stone Band, Easy Fix, Forty Foot Fred, Hank Stallion, James Hay Trio, Jimmy Le Guilloux, Jon Bos Band, Linus, Lucky Monkey, Moni Funk,
