screens to light up again soon

A few theatres open last weekend down on the coast, 6 more to open in Alberta in June, and Canada wide in July. There will be movies on the big screen soon.

Cineplex has announced that it's opening 6 theatres in Alberta on June 26th, and intends to open across Canada in July, with provincial health authorities permitting.

Yes, there will be safety measures in place, and the whole movie experience will be different for months to come. However, movies, on big screens, in the days ahead.

For a list of all the theatres in and around town, check out our Movie Theatres page.

NOTE - The COVID-19 pandemic and the provincial emergency delcaration have meant an immediate closure of all movie theatres. As restrictions loosen and movie theatres announce plans to re-open, we will do our best to keep you up to date.

June 26th openings in Alberta

in with the old, wait for the new

While we will all have to wait for the new releases to make it to the big screen, theatres will begin by showing previously released fare in reduced capacity seating arrangements along with a host of other safety measures to protect both staff and public.

We had previously reported that Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" would be released on July 17th, but that has apparently been pushed back to July 31st. Other planned releases have been pushed back further into the fall.

It's going to be a very different experience for awhile, but it is good to hear that theatres will be opening their doors again soon, and much thought has been put into everyone's safety.
